Home decor blog posts are some of my favorite to read and definitely some of my favorite posts to write. We have been renovating our home ever since we moved in last October and let me tell you I really had no idea how long this would take. Our renovations are purely cosmetic. Our home was built in 2014 and doesn’t need any major work. No walls are being knocked down or cabinets being ripped out, but it has still been a challenge to get everything we want done. We still have some major work to do on the bathrooms, but the bedrooms are almost completely finished. I will be doing full before and afters on the blog soon, but today is a sneak peek into our master bedroom.
It’s so hard for me to believe that my husband and I shared a queen sized bed for the full 8 years we have been married. I need to add that I am 5’9” and he is 6’3”. Cue the laughter now! How did we both fit?! I’m not even sure I know. Not to mention the mattress was bad… and I mean BAD. It got us through our 20’s and our poor dental school years, but these last few months we knew we needed a change.
When I go to buy something major, I do my research. After sleeping on memory foam beds at family and friends houses I knew I wanted to go down that route. I have been seeing memory foam beds that come in a box everywhere and decided that was the perfect choice for us. Allswell stood out to me after looking into a few different brands. They offer two different mattress options, the Allswell Luxe Classic and the Allswell Luxe Classic Firmer. We decided to get the Allswell Luxe Classic mattress and I could not be happier with our choice. The mattress has 12″ of memory foam compared to the standard 9″ of memory foam from other brands, it is cooling to the touch, has a built in plush topper and starts at $345! Having a good night sleep has honestly changed my life (I sound dramatic, but it is SO true). I would 100% recommend Allswell to anyone who is looking to upgrade their current mattress situation.
If you need help decorating your bedroom, Allswell also has bedding collections that are amazing. I chose this pink coverlet and this duvet cover. Because our lumbar pillow (on sale for a limited time) is full of color and details, I wanted to keep the rest of the bedding neutral. I love how it turned out and as you can see it is definitely Boo approved!
So far we have replaced the carpet with hardwood floors, added faux shiplap (we used the plywood method which you can find tutorials for on youtube) to the wall and updated our bedroom furniture. There is still a few things we need to do like updating the light fixture to this one from Schoolhouse, make a desk space, and add a hanging chair in the corner (still deciding between this chair and this one), but I feel like we have come a long way. I can’t wait to share the full reveal once we are completely finished. You can follow me on Instagram to see sneak peeks on my stories!
Thanks for reading! xo
*I was gifted the mattress and bedding for this post from Allswell. All opinions are my own.
